Welcome to the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand

The Pharmacy Council of New Zealand is established under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCAA) and has a duty to protect the public and promote good pharmacist practice. The Pharmacy Council is responsible for registration of pharmacists, the setting of standards for pharmacists' education, scopes of practice and conduct. Pharmacists are not disciplined by the Pharmacy Council - this function is carried out by the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal (HPDT). To view the HPDT website click here.

This website is designed to assist both the public and pharmacists by:

  • Providing information for the public regarding standards for pharmacists and the steps they can take if they are concerned about their treatment
  • Providing information for currently registered pharmacists, pharmacy students and overseas qualified pharmacists seeking registration in New Zealand.

Further information about the Pharmacy Council and office is available in the section About the Pharmacy Council. Please email us at enquiries if you have any questions.
