Pharmacy Council Membership
The Pharmacy Council has eight members appointed by the Minister of Health and is funded by the registration and annual practising fees paid by pharmacists. The members are:
Carolyn Oakley-Brown BPharm MNZCP, RegPharmNZ (Chair) is a Christchurch pharmacist and has been a member of the Council since its inception in 2003. She has wide experience as both a community pharmacist and pharmacy proprietor and is actively involved in medicines management programmes. Carolyn is currently Chair of the Canterbury Community Pharmacy Group.
Jo Mickleson BPharm, DipMgmt, RegPharmNZ (Deputy Chair) is a community pharmacist from Nelson with wide experience in both community and hospital pharmacy. She is currently a member of the Hospital Advisory Committee to the Nelson-Marlborough District Health Board and has held roles as a clinical pharmacist as well as positions in the areas of policy and management. Jo joined the Council in 2006 and was elected Deputy Chair in 2009.
Dr Andrew Bary PhD, BPharm (Hons), FNZCP, MPS, RegPharmNZ is a pharmacist based in Queenstown. He has experience in community pharmacy, as a pharmacy proprietor and in pharmacy research and education. Andrew joined the Council in 2006 and currently chairs the Preregistration Assessment Board.
Professor John Shaw BSc, Dip ClinPharm, PhD, FNZCP, FRPharmS, FPS RegPharmNZ is Head of the School of Pharmacy at the University of Auckland. John is actively involved in current pharmacy practice and brings an academic perspective to the Pharmacy Council.
Keith Crump DipPharm, MPharm, RegPharmNZ is a pharmacist based in Auckland with experience in hospital, teaching and primary care roles. He currently splits his time working for in Pharmacy Related Roles for the Funding and Planning Team for Waitemata DHB, teaching undergraduate BPharm students and post graduate students for Otago University and clinical work as a mental health pharmacist for the Waitemata DHB.
Mark Bedford DipPharm, AFNZIM, RegPharmNZ is a community pharmacist from Mt Maunganui in the Bay of Plenty. He is currently the Chair of Consumer NZ and was appointed to Council in October 2009.
Robynne Nicoll was appointed as a lay member to Council in October 2009. She is a long-standing member of the Mid-Canterbury community and was previously an electorate agent for two MP's in the area. She currently works as an administration manager for a real estate firm.
Dr Te Kani Kingi BSocSci, MSocSc, PGDIPMDev, PhD, is the Director of Te Mata o Te Tau, the Academy for Māori Research and Scholarship at Massey University, Wellington. Te Kani joined the Council in January 2010 as a lay member and is a current member of the National Health Committee and Chair of the Advisory Board of the Mental Health Commission.
