Code of Ethics

The new Code of Ethics represents a fresh approach and addresses the principles and values that guide ethical behaviour rather than specifying acceptable or unacceptable actions. This concept of respecting health professionals to make their own judgements within overarching principles, rather than requiring adherence to prescriptive rules, is in line with international best practice. Although the new Code does not contain technical guidance as in the past, Council will continue to review, update and develop guidelines for pharmacists where there are specific public safety concerns.
