Our vision

Through skilled and safe practice, pharmacists contribute to better health outcomes for New Zealanders. We aspire to have pharmacists operate at the top of their scope of practice and to not only be competent and professional in their roles but to continually work towards being the best pharmacist they can be.

Our mission

To ensure that all pharmacists in Aotearoa are competent and fit to practise in the multitude of roles they perform, in order to keep everyone’s whānau safe and healthy.

Governance Charter

We are pleased to present you with the Te Pou Whakamana Kaimatū o Aotearoa Governance Charter. This document represents a significant milestone for the Pharmacy Council and is a result of huge collaborative work that helped us to be where we are now.  The Charter forms the basis for how we behave in all matters facing our organisation.

It strengthens our mission, our vision, our values and ultimately the way we do “business.” The design was thoughtfully created to help  visualise the meaning behind the Charter words.

Strategic Plan – 2019 and Beyond

The Council’s strategic plan guides our regulatory work programme today and into the future. The plan sets two objectives:

  • minimise risk of harm to the public from pharmacy practice, and
  • maximise pharmacists’ competence and fitness to practise.
